The Builder Review is published by the team behind reach, a tool for building personal websites from a CV. reach is one of the products we write about.
We say that here, at the top, rather than in small print, because a comparison written by someone with a stake in the outcome is worth exactly as much as their willingness to admit the stake.
What that means in practice
We write about reach the way we write about everything else, which means we publish the cases where it loses. reach builds one page for one person. It has no content model, no sub-pages, no shop, no contact forms and no way to connect a domain you already own. If your project needs any of those, we will tell you to use Webflow, WordPress, Framer or Squarespace, and we do, repeatedly, throughout this site.
Most of what we publish does not mention reach at all. When it does, it is because the article is about the narrow job reach is built for.
How we test
We build a real site on a platform before we write about it: a genuine personal site or a small business site, taken as far as publishing, with a real domain where the article calls for one. Screenshots are of that build. Timings are measured, not estimated. Where a number comes from a vendor rather than from us, we say so in the sentence.
Money
We are not paid by any platform to write about it. There are no sponsored posts on this site and no paid placements in any comparison. Some links to registrars and hosts may be affiliate links; where that is the case it never changes the ranking of a recommendation, and the reasoning stays on the page for you to disagree with.
Corrections
Prices change, plans get renamed, features ship and get removed. If something here is out of date or wrong, we would rather know. Articles carry the date they were published and the date they were last checked.
